The legacy opens its bottle of milk once again
Words: Ambica Gulati
Remember mom’s daily glass of milk before going to school and before going to bed…and now the nourishment comes back from the house of Keventers at Delhi’s plush Select City Walk, Saket. With a legacy going back around 100 years, the brand has been revived by Aman Arora and Agastya Mihir Dalmia along with partner Sohrab Sitaram. The first milkshake from this dairy came to the public in 1925!
Though the classic flavours have been retained, there are new and healthy mixes to suit the current palate. They are thirst quenching as well as filling. Moreover, the outlet is neat and clean and along the open corridor of the mall, near Starbucks. So down them with a croissant or burger.
The four classic flavours are Vanilla, Butterscotch, Kesar Pista and Strawberry. I enjoyed the Strawberry and Kesar Pista. The milk was fresh and the quantity enough to make you feel you need to walk around a bit to let it settle in the body. The bottles are reminiscent of the days gone by when the milkman left them on the doorstep. You can click and watch them but drink from the neat and clean disposable glasses.
The new innovative range is bigger, but my vote goes for the Choco Peanut butter one with its crunchy peanuts coming in as you drink the shake. And then the other interesting ones are Mint Oreo, suited for summer as it’s cool and refreshing, and the children would love the pink Tutti Frutti.
For those who don’t want the milk shake, there’s gelato and the Dilli Jamun is a killer in the heat. I think anyone keen on a good healthy dose of dairy products would enjoy drinking the legacy. And upload your Keventers selfie from the machine in the corner before you bid adieu to the outlet. The buzz is that the legacy can also be drunk at a mall in Vasant Kunj soon.
