In my travel bag: Palmer’s Cocoa Butter creams and oil

There’s a lot to be said about the dry winter air, but the idea is to combat it and keep the skin nourished. And here comes in the combative power of cocoa butter.

The moment I see the promise of soft and supple skin, the natural instinct is to try it. And the same went for Palmer’s Cocoa Butter moisturiser, skin therapy oil and lip balm.

With the moisturiser, the result was instantaneous. And I didn’t need to put another hand cream for almost five hours.

The oil is light and spreads easily. It doesn’t become hard in winter and it is the daily dose which helps. It has rose hip fragrance and can be used on the face as well. Rose hip, the fruit is said to have vitamin C and the seed oil is high in essential fatty acids: linoleic acid or omega 6 and linolenic acid or omega 3. And the skin therapy oil also has vitamin E.

The lip balm is a carry in your daily kit kind of thing.

The best part of using cocoa butter-based products is that they are effective in all conditions. They don’t have a sticky feel and are not an oily dose on the skin. They leave a protective layer for a longer period.

So what is the skin softening cocoa butter?

First I came to know that is not made from milk. It comes from cocoa beans which give us our favourite chocolate. It’s full of calories and nourishment. So it’s edible as well, of course not the pack that comes for creams and lotions.

Once the cocoa beans are extracted from larger, fleshy cocoa fruit, the beans are cleaned, roasted and then pressed in hydraulic machinery. After the cocoa butter is extracted, the remaining solids are processed into cocoa powder.

The interesting thing is that cocoa butter is solid at room temperature but liquid at human body temperature.

Cocoa butter is said to help in preventing or removing stretch marks that can come with pregnancy or weight gain. Well, the good part is that it has enough fatty acid to keep the skin moist.
