Shots of mango and chocolate went down smoothly, as owners Baldeep Singh and Pardeep Jajoria talked about the inspiration behind the ‘canteen’. The young ones were fashion professionals until they decided to become entrepreneurs and relive their college days through Canteen Till I Die. And everything in that place has been decided by students, the designer Jasmine has just finished her graduation and the menu was all done with nods from friends who were students.
So the mantra is healthy and pocket friendly—nothing seems to please a student more than saving a bit of the pocket money for the romantic date. And Canteen Till I Die will give many such moments. So the day begins with breakfast which has cereals, oats and all that’s healthy. But there’s paratha too with fillings. And it’s nominally priced Rs 40 onwards.
You can get the teas and coffees. So that kind of takes care of the regular canteen flavours. But the additions are hot chocolate and pressed juices. Which are a must drink, they are fresh and healthy.
Among the snacks, I liked Chandni Chowk to China (Rs 45) which is some kind of fried noodles in some sauce and its slightly chilly and addictive. You have to try it yourself to know what I mean.
Rainbow Mixed Pakodas come at Rs 55 and the non-vegetarians would like the Chicken popcorns mixed with fresh herbs, onion, garlic, served with Sriracha mayo.
I also liked the Masala Falafel which is among the costly dishes for this canteen, Rs 145. Desi Crostini is another light eat with a choice of toppings
The main course has stuff like Keema Masala, Butter Chicken. Among the salads, Caesar Salad (Rs 175) is the tasty one. I also liked the Pasta Skillets with Pesto – Basil. And ended my tasting session with Brownie Crumble and Chocolate Ganache with raisins nuts
The ambience is light with lots of music, prices easy and the food enough to satiate. And as the monsoon comes knocking in the Capital, Baldeep Singh and Pardeep Jajoria are geared to welcome the student crowds as the new session begins soon.
