They sat in a circle, enjoying the spring sun, surrounded by green fields, tall trees and a happy breeze. No siesta from the hard work as Holi is the time for community bonding and enjoying the colours on earth. Young, old, middle-aged, women and children of Uttarkhand danced and played the traditional dholak. While the urban dweller might not associate with some of the songs and the zestful singing, the traditional life in the little villages makes everything so simple and fun.
We were in Kyari Village, around Ramnagar, Corbett National Park, on invitation from the Corbett Wild Iris Spa and Resort (through Travel Correspondents and Bloggers Group). And a young boy, Dheeraj (works with the resort), took us to his home to see how the little village enjoyed this festival. The celebrations continue for a week and each of the 100 homes was hosting a session of song, dance and snacks (mishri, saunf, grated coconut, gujiya) in the afternoon. There is a clear segregation with the men celebrating among themselves.
While the women frolicked and enjoyed posing for the camera, we enjoyed hearing the songs, the welcome with a gulal tika and some prasad. A cup of coffee and some snacks amid the fields and open air, this Holi turned out to be a different experience, away from the city smog and chaos.
Festive Trip comes alive with Asus ZenFone 4 Selfie Dual Cam
The camera is apt for any traveller. With a wide angle for horizontal shots and clarity, it gives a quality at par with any DSLR. The speed for uploads on social media is good which is what I always need.
The best thing that I liked about the phone was the lightness–it weighs just 144gm. Besides a good camera, my other requirements are storage and battery, which this phone offers in ample. It has a 3000mAh non-removable battery and it lasted me well for a day with continuous use of the applications and internet browsing. The phone has slots for nano SIMs and the microSD card can support up to 2TB data, which is a photographer’s delight.
The USP of ZenFone 4 Selfie Dual Cam: It has two cameras on one side. ASUS has worked on this, as this is how professional photographers use separate fixed focal length lenses with their DSLR cameras, allowing them to compose photos with different perspectives.
The cameras face the front which enables it to shoot good selfies or group portrait photos (wefies). The main camera in front is 20MP, which is why even though the jeep was moving fast in the forest, I captured some really clear selfies.
Then there are the filters and a Selfimaster App where you can beautify your work. There is hardly any need for an editing software. The rear 16MP camera with LED flash captures each picture in detail. The full-HD video recording with electronic image-stabilization (EIS) gives detailed, shake-free videos, as you can see in the videos.
