Touted as the ‘most instagrammable restaurant’, it’s more or less always packed. A place for the young, the old and the transit passengers, the light purple exteriors and fancy interiors are an added attraction. Offering a delicious array of tapas, starters and plated delicacies crafted by Chef Sagar Bajaj, the restaurant has a peppy and cheerful ambience. Flowers, artefacts, paintings, colourful sofas and a huge bar—what more would a diner need to feel good.
While waiting for the dimsums, we watched the young and the old posing for their instagram accounts. The menu has about 16 different dumplings, but we went with the Chef’s recommendations. Among the three that we tasted, my vote goes for the Crystal Dumplings. A crunchy filling of chestnuts, carrots and mushroom, it was a subtle blend of flavours and sea salt. Another must try here is White Fungus Chicken. The minced chicken with just right the dash of Asian herbs and bird chilli was a burst of flavours. Each dish comprises about six to seven processes and there is a team of 40 chefs in the kitchen, elucidated the Chef. And going by the always filled tables, the speed must be ultra fast for most orders are delivered soon enough.
Another treat was the Chicken Puffsome. Filled with roasted chicken, it was mixed with five spices and the baked puff coating was simply the most delicious thing I have eaten till date.
Go with a big group, for you can try more because the Spicy Barbecued Chicken is a yummy saga. The chicken is marinated with Szechuan pepper-infused oil overnight. The accompanying finely-chopped red chilli is de-seeded, boiled and then lightly tossed. The crunch of the chilli and the chicken along with the signature cocktail of Elderflower and Blue Berries just added more zing to the tasting session.
In the sushi section, I prefer them without mayonnaise, so I would opt for the ones without the mayo next time. There’s pizza, rolls, soups and more on the menu. But we spent a good three hours chatting, tasting and ended our meal with Plum Tropical Fruit Citrus Cheesecake which came artfully laden with diced apple and pomegranates.
My tip: reserve your table and enjoy the music, the ambience. Should you like any of the cutlery, furniture or décor pieces, there is a section called ‘Indulge’ at the back of the menu. You can order, get customised plans and have them delivered at home.
